CALLING ALL CARTRIDGES
Help support Brightwood by dropping off your used inkjet and toner cartridges in the Main Office. Monies collected from recycling are used to purchase office supplies for PTA correspondences.
Volunteer Registration Information:
Please refer to the AUSD Volunteers Web Page for information, download of forms and FAQ.
Students must have a Electronic Signaling Device form signed by a parent and given to the office before bringing a cell phone to school. Click to download the Registering an Electronic Signaling Device (Cell Phone) Form. You may also find it in the Alhambra Unified School District Parent and Student Handbook available on the AUSD Website or obtained from the Brightwood office.
CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL
Brightwood has been named a 2020 California Distinguished School. Five other Alhambra Unified School District elementary schools were also named as 2020 California Distinguished Schools. All schools will receive their plaques at a special ceremony in February. Congratulations to the entire Brightwood community!
Brightwood has been implementing the Playworks program as part of our plan to build a culture of play that helps kids feel a sense of belonging and have an opportunity to contribute on the playground during recess play. Playworks targets physical activity for ALL students with greater feelings of school safety and less bullying behaviors. Staff and student Junior Coaches have been trained in learning and facilitating games.
Beginning January 13th, the trained Junior Coaches will begin checking out school equipment during lunch for students. To ensure inclusion for all, students will no longer be allowed to bring their own play equipment from home. Instead, they will check-out equipment using their school IDs, and all students will be able to join in any game/activity. (Students will need to keep their IDs in a safe place as lost IDs cannot be replaced.) More details and information will be shared with students soon.
This year we will be starting our first annual Brightwood Yearbook. We need your help to collect any pictures you may have from events you’ve volunteered or attended. Anything from field trips and school activities like the Youth Fair and Fun Run. However, this does not guarantee that your pictures will make it into the yearbook, but it gives us more options to choose from.
With this yearbook program, each family has the FREE option to upload and personalize TWO pages in each yearbook purchased for their child. That means you can add your child’s sports team photos, family vacation photos from this past year, or even embarrassing baby pictures that only your child will have in their book.
Yearbooks will cost approximately $21 for softcover and an additional $6.95 to upgrade to a hardcover. Orders will start to take place soon, so keep a look out and ask your child if they’ve received a flyer. Start by making an account on TreeRing.com!
We will be holding a yearbook cover contest which will be starting very soon. Keep an eye out for the contest flyer. Winner of this contest will have his/her art piece printed on our first Brightwood yearbook and win a FREE hardcover yearbook. The contest deadline will be February 14th.
ATTENTION 8TH GRADE PARENTS:
This yearbook DOES NOT replace the 8th-grade promotion yearbook. The 8th-grade yearbook will focus on everything about 8th graders including K - 7th grade.
