WELCOME LETTERPlease read the attached letter from our principal, Mrs. Gaither.
Letter: 6170.welcome_and_welcome_back_parents_2020__1_.pdf BRIGHTWOOD BANNERBrightwood School would like to publicly thank Ms. Cindy Gomez (a parent from Monterey Highlands School) and David Perez (president of Valley Vista Services), who has donated a Class of 2020 banner to every Alhambra Unified School District school to help honor our 8th graders and 12th graders as they move on to the next important stage of their lives.
The Brightwood banner is now hanging at the front of the school (near the entrance to the office) – please see photo. Eighth graders are welcome to take photos in front of the banner with their families. Please wear a mask, except when actually taking the photograph. Since we still need to practice safe social distancing, we do want to caution our 8th graders that they are not to gather with their classmates to take group pictures. The banner is only for individual and family photographs. If there is another student / family at the banner, please keep your distance (at least six feet away) until they have finished taking their photographs. The banner will remain up until mid-July, so there is no rush to go right away. You will have plenty of time to take your photos. More information will be coming soon regarding our 8th grade Virtual Promotion, so please make sure to check your emails often. Congratulations to our Brightwood Class of 2020! PANDEMIC EBTDue to Coronavirus (COVID-19), children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits help families in California buy food when schools are closed because of the coronavirus emergency.
Families will get up to $365 per eligible child on their P-EBT card to use on food and groceries. Families with children who get CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Foster Care benefits do not need to apply. Most will get their P-EBT card in the mail during the month of May. P-EBT cards will begin arriving around May 12, 2020. Families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and who do not get their P-EBT card in the mail by about May 22, 2020 must apply online before June 30, 2020. The online application will be available beginning May 22, 2020 at ca.p-ebt.org. https://www.cdss.ca.gov/home/pandemic-ebt STUDENT MEDICATIONIf you have any student medication in the health office, we want to make sure you have the opportunity to pick them up before the office closes for the summer. Please click on this link and complete the form by Friday, May 22nd in order to arrange for a pick-up appointment with Nurse Sarah.

I understand this will cause a delay with your school receiving your products and for that, we apologize. I know how important portraits and memories are to our schools and students. We will make every effort to deliver these products as soon as restrictions are lifted and production is underway. Your partnership and understanding is greatly appreciated. The health of your students, staff and families are in our thoughts." VOLUNTEER HOURSPlease remember to submit volunteer hours if you haven't done so. 8TH GRADE PROMOTION DRIVE-THRU CELEBRATIONWe are excited to announce that the County Department of Public Health has lifted some restrictions and is now allowing us to have "drive-thru" celebrations. Because of this, Brightwood will be holding a Promotion Drive-Thru Celebration for our 8th Graders on Thursday, June 18th, starting at 9:00am.
On Wednesday (June 3rd), Mrs. Gaither sent out a Blackboard/Connect-Ed message to parents about the event and included the attached letter. In the letter, there is also information regarding having 8th graders return their borrowed items. (All other students will hang on to them through the summer.) 8th grade parents need to fill out this form at https://forms.gle/FdPwkrJ974HZ74tu7 to let the office know when they will come to return their list of items and pick up additional information about the Drive-Thru Celebration.
